MIDI Mapping #170

+1 for free CC mapping. Idk how the Ableton Live mapping overlay idea could work, since we don't have a mouse pointer to select the screen parameter we like to map to an external controller by "wiggling" it. Maybe a future "CC mapping mode" could map the "last" edited FM-1 parameter to the external controller I wiggle next. An so on. |

1.5 is out: https://github.com/hugelton/Felucca/releases/tag/v1.5 MIDI LEARN is in, on the device, pretty much the way @planist79 described it: hold GLO and press D4 (MIDI LEARN ON), turn the FM-1 knob of the parameter you want on any track, then move a knob or fader on your controller. That CC now sets that parameter on that track whatever channel it comes in on (as long as MIDI IN listens to it), so you can keep the drums' filter on a fader while you play a lead. Turn the next knob to map the next one; OCT− clears the picked parameter's CC and OCT+ ends learning. Up to 16 CCs, kept across power-off, and MENU > MIDI > LEARN CLEAR clears them all. Thanks @lostfictions and @planist79! |

Hi, thanks for all your work on this great firmware! I saw open discussions about MIDI channel assignment (#143) and something about microtonal scales over MIDI (#7), but nothing about directly mapping MIDI CCs for different track params, so I thought I would open a discussion to keep track of it and allow others to upvote it.
I understand there's a fixed CC map as of the latest release (as described in #103), but the MIDI devices I have available don't do internal CC remapping (or at least make it very difficult), so it's a little hard for me to get a workable layout that way.
One alternative that I think might be nice is Ableton Live-style MIDI mapping, where there's a overlay mode that lets you adjust a parameter on the DAW/synth and then wiggle a knob or fader on the MIDI device to assign it to that parameter. I know the FM-1's controls are already a little crowded and it might be confusing to add a full mapping overlay mode in addition to that... maybe one option would be to implement it via the web editor instead?
In terms of implementation, the way I'd imagine it working is that it ignores MIDI channel routing (or at least has the option to ignore it). Instead, the control would always associate with the parameter for the specific track. So it would be easy to (for example) set a control that tweaks the filter for the drums even while playing a lead track live.
Thanks again!
