1.5 is out: https://github.com/hugelton/Felucca/releases/tag/v1.5 ENV SYNC is in: on the ENV DEST page, KNOB 4 (ESYNC) turns the envelope's ATK, DEC and REL into note values of the tempo, from 1/64T up to 4 bars with the dotted and triplet values in between, one per knob click. They follow the BPM or an external clock, even while a note is sounding. ESYNC is saved with the sound; OFF is milliseconds as before. The delay's TIME was already in note values; the reverb isn't tempo-synced. Thanks @etyrnal! |

Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
I bought an extra fm-1 just for your firmware! It's AMAZING! Thanks for the work you're doing!
Please consider this idea. Maybe it could be done with a lookup table of the values:
REQUEST: KNOB GRANULARITY - please make options based on lookup table values of a range of valid musical subdivisions of the current tempo - instead of ONLY milliseconds.
Just requesting that knob value adjustments for MUSICAL-TIME-BASED-SUBDIVISION-RATIOS settings like envelopes (ADSR), and delay and reverb, etc. ALL be based on musical subdivisions of the current tempo. This would be FAR more useful than twiddling a knob several several times to get the desired timing. This could be done with a look up table of about 31 ratios of the current tempo's 1 beat duration multiplied by the numbers in the lookup table.
So, the subdivisions would be (except add in the dotted and triplets also in order)
8 bars (to allow for ambient compositions etc)
4 bars (of the current tempo)
3 bars
2 bars
1 bar
1/2 bar
1/4
1/8
1/16
1/32
1/64
1/128
maybe times above could be in seconds, and times below could be in milliseconds.
But i don't see why this would be necessary - we're making music here. Music is all about frequency and rations (fractions/subdivisions).
This is approximately 31 values or so. Every single one of them is absolutely useful to music and covers the ranges and likely possibilities of peoples envelope and timing needs. So, maybe make these the middle 31 clicks of the knob's rotation, and values below could be in milliseconds, and values above can be in seconds. And make the default, like 1/16th note (of the current tempo).
i got this info from google:
Q: "what are the musical subdivisions between 1/256 and 4 bars in order of time length including dotted and triplet notes? "
A: "Here is the complete list of musical subdivisions from a 1/256 note up to 4 bars (assuming standard 4/4 time, where 1 bar = 1 whole note = 4 beats). The list is ordered strictly from shortest duration to longest duration.
For clarity, durations are shown relative to a whole note ((1.0)) and in beats where applicable.
Micro-Subdivisions (Shorter than a 16th Note)
• 256th note — Value: (\frac{1}{256}) of a whole note
• Triplet 128th note — Value: (\frac{1}{192}) of a whole note
• Dotted 256th note — Value: (\frac{3}{512}) of a whole note
• 128th note — Value: (\frac{1}{128}) of a whole note
• Triplet 64th note — Value: (\frac{1}{96}) of a whole note
• Dotted 128th note — Value: (\frac{3}{256}) of a whole note
• 64th note — Value: (\frac{1}{64}) of a whole note
• Triplet 32nd note — Value: (\frac{1}{48}) of a whole note
• Dotted 64th note — Value: (\frac{3}{128}) of a whole note
• 32nd note — Value: (\frac{1}{32}) of a whole note
• Triplet 16th note — Value: (\frac{1}{24}) of a whole note
• Dotted 32nd note — Value: (\frac{3}{64}) of a whole note
Standard Subdivisions (16th Note to Quarter Note)
• Sixteenth note (1/16) — Value: (\frac{1}{16}) of a whole note ((0.25) beats)
• Triplet 8th note — Value: (\frac{1}{12}) of a whole note ((\approx 0.33) beats)
• Dotted 16th note — Value: (\frac{3}{32}) of a whole note ((0.375) beats)
• Eighth note (1/8) — Value: (\frac{1}{8}) of a whole note ((0.5) beats)
• Triplet quarter note — Value: (\frac{1}{6}) of a whole note ((\approx 0.67) beats)
• Dotted 8th note — Value: (\frac{3}{16}) of a whole note ((0.75) beats)
Mid-Range Note Values (1 Beat to 1 Bar)
• Quarter note (1/4) — Value: (\frac{1}{4}) of a whole note ((1) beat)
• Triplet half note — Value: (\frac{1}{3}) of a whole note ((\approx 1.33) beats)
• Dotted quarter note — Value: (\frac{3}{8}) of a whole note ((1.5) beats)
• Half note (1/2) — Value: (\frac{1}{2}) of a whole note ((2) beats)
• Triplet whole note — Value: (\frac{2}{3}) of a whole note ((\approx 2.67) beats)
• Dotted half note — Value: (\frac{3}{4}) of a whole note ((3) beats)
Macro-Subdivisions (1 Bar to 4 Bars)
• Whole note — Value: (1) whole note ((1) bar / (4) beats)
• Triplet double whole note (Breve) — Value: (1.33) whole notes ((\approx 1.33) bars)
• Dotted whole note — Value: (1.5) whole notes ((1.5) bars)
• Double whole note (Breve) — Value: (2) whole notes ((2) bars / (8) beats)
• Triplet 4 bars (Quadruple Breve) — Value: (\approx 2.67) whole notes ((\approx 2.67) bars)
• Dotted double whole note — Value: (3) whole notes ((3) bars)
• 4 bars (Quadruple whole note / Longa) — Value: (4) whole notes ((4) bars / (16) beats)"
