Hello Felucca Development Team,
I would like to propose a feature for the M-VAVE FM-1 that could expand its customization capabilities and encourage community involvement: a browser-based theme editor for creating and importing custom UI themes and visualizers.
The idea is to develop a web application that allows FM-1 users to personalize the synthesizer's visual interface without having to modify or recompile its firmware manually.
// Proposed Features
Custom Color Palettes: Allow users to customize interface colors, including backgrounds, text, menus, highlights, and other UI elements.
Custom Visualizers: Provide different display visualization styles, such as waveforms, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and audio-reactive graphics, depending on the FM-1's hardware capabilities.
Browser-Based Theme Editor: Build an intuitive web app that works directly in the browser, without requiring users to install additional software.
Interactive Preview: Include a visual FM-1 interface simulator so users can see how their themes will look before exporting them.
Theme Export and Import: Allow users to export their creations as compatible theme files that can be transferred to the FM-1 through USB or another supported method.
Community Theme Sharing: Consider adding a public gallery where users can upload, share, and download custom themes.
// Suggested Technical Approach
The web app could generate theme packages containing supported color settings, visualizer configurations, and other appearance-related parameters. The FM-1 firmware would then load these packages and apply the selected theme without affecting the synthesizer's core audio functionality.
If supported by the hardware and firmware, direct transfers through WebUSB or another browser-compatible communication method could make the process even more convenient. Otherwise, users could download the generated files and transfer them manually.
This approach would provide a cross-platform customization tool, simplify distribution, and create opportunities for community-driven development without requiring a separate desktop application.
I understand that the FM-1's display, memory, and processing capabilities may impose certain limitations, particularly regarding animated visualizers. The proposal is therefore intended to be flexible and could begin with basic color customization before expanding into more advanced visual features.
I believe this could be a valuable addition to the FM-1 ecosystem, giving users greater control over their devices while providing Felucca with an opportunity to build a community around user-created themes and visual customization.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the feasibility of this feature and whether it could be considered for future development.
