use another formatting tool since eslint formatting rules are deprecated?

Yea I'm not a huge fan of eslint. The migration to 9.x was painful. The fact that they want to move away from formatting and require you to use a 2nd tool is also annoying. But I don't know that anything else is better? I am open to suggestions though. Eslint with sytlistic packages seem like okay compromise for now?

Yes. Or even don't change anything since they promise not to remove the old rules anyway (they are just unmaintained)

If we reopen at some point, https://github.com/eslint/config-inspector can help: it's a GUI to inspect the ESLint rules. It shows the deprecated rules, for example.
