This release contains all the modifications that were added to the repository since 2.4.0 was released, notably:

• Updated to autoconf 2.72 and fixed a configure test that kept ./configure from working on debian trixie
• Added support for strftime in the append_filename configuration
• Fixed different memory issues as reported by libasan and other users
• Some other minor changes. Please Check Changelog for more details

This will be the last release of the 2.4 branch, which can now be considered frozen.

We have been working on the 3.x branch since some years and it will replace the 2.4 one as the main one in the repository when we do its first release.
