Describe the bug

with
hyprctl dispatch dpms off

laptop screen goes black - ok
external monitor (hdmi) goes black and soonly after it lights up

hyprctl dispatch dpms off with an external monitor

Try disabling auto-source or whatever it's called in your monitor settings

here's my logs about this problem:

I think the cause is that when the monitor gets the dpms off, it turns off, but as soon as it does, it detects that a cable is plugged in (wl_output), and hyprland automatically enables it, turning it on again. my workaround for this is using hyprctl keyword monitor "DP-3, disable", but this isn't the most elegant solution. a fix might be to ignore any wl_output signal till dpms on is sent on resume.

The issue also started for me around the time 0.53.0 was released. Prior to that everything worked fine, so I don't think it's caused by the monitor itself being faulty.
