Allow Plain text editor in status posts #2

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I sometimes need to use html in notes but the status UI only allows the rich text editor. I need to this @ mention when syndicating to some services, adding specific, but experimental properties like u-follow-of, etc.
Describe the solution you'd like
A plain text editor, or ability to toggle to source codes on status/notes.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I have tried to remove the call to the rich text editor in the status plugin unsuccessfully. I also tried publishing an article and leaving it titleless to see if it would then default to a note post type.
