Pointsman m4l v0.1.0
Pointsman is a DAW-native scale quantizer for MIDI: it snaps incoming
notes to a user-selected scale, with optional chord mode (single-note-
becomes-chord expansion via a configurable diatonic voice stack), and a
per-event humanize layer (velocity / gate / timing / drift).
This is the first release of the m4l target on im9/pointsman.
What it does
- 15 scale presets — major, minor, modes (dorian / phrygian / lydian /
mixolydian / locrian), pentatonics, blues, harmonic / melodic minor,
whole-tone, chromatic, plus a chromatic-half identity for passthrough. - Snap is always nearest — binary-search to the nearest scale pitch.
- chord mode — single-note input expands to a diatonic voice stack
(default 1-3-5 triad), voices configurable in the HARMONY group
(interval ∈ {3, 4, 5, 6}, direction above/below). - Per-event humanize — velocity, gate, timing, drift; all seeded for
reproducibility (per-instance random seed).
Pairs naturally with any MIDI source upstream
([MIDI source] → [Pointsman] → [Synth]) — Turing-Machine-style chromatic
streams, arpeggiators, or live keyboard.
