Hi,
I've been using Immich for a couple of weeks and loving it so far, i ditched google a few years ago and have been needing a replacement for photos ever since. Similar tools just aren't as elegant as Immich.

That being said i had some feedback regarding the process for selecting what to sync from the mobile app (android at least, i cant speak to ios).

I understand the simplicity for users to pick what 'albums' to sync to the server, but i think its a bad name for the folders images are stored in to be called albums. I also think the selection process while again simple to use, suffers as a result, the way all the 'albums' (again actually just folders) are just listed out can be a bit overwhelming and tedious to scroll and click through. Often when saving images from social media sites, the image gets saved into a folder with the username its from, and these can clutter the list up quite a bit. I feel it would be better to start with an empty list, perhaps just with the default DCIM folder (though im not sure this is even standard across android let alone other platforms) with a button to add an entry. This could show a submenu or popup where you can use a regular file picker to choose the folder, as well as potentially settings for that specific folder, though I don't see a use for that myself i'm sure it would be handy for some. It could also allow for more specifc locations to be synced, like system folders or hidden folders.
This is fairly similar to how the photo sync in the nextcloud mobile app works. Not suggesting Immich should just copy them but I do think its a better user experience for managing photo sync.

I want to stress the way it works at the moment is absolutely functional and the app itself is incredibly clean and stable for a free product. I appreciate this is more of a redesign to the page than just a feature request, so i don't expect to see it change overnight. Just thought I'd leave my thoughts as feedback in case it was useful, while I've done some programing in the past I wouldn't know where to start with Android development but happy and willing to help test stuff :)
