Download GIF format from mobile app

I have searched the existing feature requests to make sure this is not a duplicate request.

The feature

GIFs play in the mobile app. I do not know about Android, but I know for certain they play in iOS. However, if you go to save the image, it tries to save as a JPG.

Can a method be implemented so that the mobile app will let you download the pure file that it's actually showing you?
