The feature
On Android, Immich pauses automatic backups when the device is connected to a metered, paid, or carrier-managed Wi-Fi network (e.g., hotel Wi-Fi, hotspots, captive portals). Currently, the app does not inform the user that backups are not running, which can lead to confusion and missed backups.
Requested improvements:
In-app warning or status indicator when backups are paused due to a metered/paid Wi-Fi connection.
For example: “Backups paused due to metered Wi-Fi connection.”
Add a log entry to the Immich logs whenever backups are skipped or paused for this reason.
This would make troubleshooting easier and provide clarity in the activity history.
