Generic release or v2 tags for immich-app/postgres docker image?

I did not see a generic release tag for the ghcr.io/immich-app/postgres:14-vectorchord0.4.3-pgvectors0.2.0 image?

Using such a version specific tag makes it really difficult to keep the main app release tagged image, e.g. ghcr.io/immich-app/immich-machine-learning:release-openvino, in sync with the correct database tag, when the tag changes changes are only published in the https://github.com/immich-app/immich/releases/latest/download/docker-compose.yml file.

Is there such a release tag for postgres, and I am just missing it?
If not, why not?

You cant use a release tag for postgres - major version upgrades are not trivial.

Ok, I understand major DB upgrades are not trivial, normally for many DB's, which is why they typically referenced by major version tags that are generic and are updated automatically, e.g. it could have been postgress:14 and Immich takes care of updating to current v. 14.

How would people known when one day they have to change from postgres:14-vectorchord0.4.3-pgvectors0.2.0 to something else to keep up with Immich release tag?

What does a major DB upgrade procedure with Immich look like?

I'd still like to get a more reliable tag for the DB.

I want to pin to image versions that will not break my config or be incompatible with each other.
I.e. no latest tag, and I want to avoid having keep looking at the latest release to figure out what tags are being used in the compose files.

I am current using:

• ghcr.io/immich-app/immich-server:v2
• ghcr.io/immich-app/immich-machine-learning:v2-openvino
• docker.io/valkey/valkey:9 TODO: Tag has changed!
• ghcr.io/immich-app/postgres:14-vectorchord0.4.3-pgvectors0.2.0 TODO: Find a more reliable v2 tag

I did not see any equivalent of a v2 tag for ghcr.io/immich-app/postgres.
But there are more generic tags, e.g. 14-vectorchord0.4.3 and 14-vectorchord0.5.3.

What is the documented guaranteed compatible tag for the DB to use with a v2 server tag?

As you can see, vectorchord is not yet stable in immich - it's 0.x, and therefore not safe to auto upgrade.

Immich 2.5 will support vectorchord 1.0 - perhaps once this is stable for a bit we will consider a meta tag for postgres.

Also, your current database will always remain compatible with immich v2 - you do not need to update it.
