I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.
The feature
As my family members are not tech-savvy, they do raise unnecessary questions regarding this part of the UI in the Android app.
If I'm not mistaken, this is unified for each user using the mobile app and it's a bit of unnecessary info for them.
The 'i' icon is familiar to average user from the dot on the Android app logo in drawer (meaning something new/notification > go and check).
And they think there is something that could/should be checked.
But as they are not admins, they can't do anything with this info anyway.
Update and storage quotas is handled by Admin.
Therefore I'm proposing - for non-admins:
In the case of the admin in Android app, there can be also no 'i' before latest version, as it's redundant if there is the banner "Server update is available View."
(It doesn't make sense to me, the admin, either, because the total storage is a few TB and only portion is planned for Immich. Maybe a global quota that could be sliced eventually for each user. This is not of any priority tbh, just it does fit into this feature request.)
Instead of server storage, let there be nothing if the storage quota is not set up for the user.
(If it is set up, the information makes sense and it's displayed now.)
In the WebUI there is Storage space banner on left side and this could be also hidden for user with no quota.
I have in System settings the Server version check disabled. But this seems to me is only for the Web UI.
This could be triggred by one simple switch (defaulting as off for anyone not admin) in, for example:
System Settings > Server Setting > below Public user, new row: "Hide server info for non-admin user"
The already existing "Version check" could be moved here, as it's also for the server in general. One row less in the System Settings.
