[Feature] Fallback configuration for Android widgets on launchers without reconfigure support
The feature
The Android Random Photo widget currently uses:
This works as intended on launchers that implement Android's
reconfigurablewidget feature: the initial configuration can be skipped and the user can later long-press the widget and select "Reconfigure" or "Settings".However, the OnePlus/OxygenOS launcher does not expose the reconfigure action for many third-party widgets.
This has been reproduced on a OnePlus 13 running OxygenOS 16. When adding the Immich Random Photo widget, it is added with its default configuration. Long-pressing it afterwards only allows resizing/removing it; there is no configuration/settings action.
As a result, there is no user-accessible way to select an album for the Random Photo widget.
This appears to be a OnePlus launcher limitation/bug rather than an Immich bug. The same missing reconfigure action has also been reported with other reconfigurable Android widgets on OnePlus devices.
Possible solution
It would be useful if Immich provided a launcher-independent fallback for configuring existing widgets.
For example:
RandomConfigurefor the selectedappWidgetIdconfiguration_optionalThe first option would retain the current streamlined behaviour on launchers that properly support widget reconfiguration while also supporting launchers that do not.
Workaround / verification
The Immich configuration activity itself works correctly on the affected device.
After obtaining the widget ID using:
the configuration UI can be opened manually with:
Album selection and saving then work normally.
