[Feature] Resumable chunked uploads for large photos and videos

I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.

The feature

Feature description

 
Implement resumable chunked uploads for web and mobile clients.
 
Instead of uploading an entire file as a single HTTP request, files would be split into smaller chunks that are uploaded independently and reassembled server-side.
 

Problem

 
Many users host Immich behind reverse proxies or gateways that impose upload size limits.
 
Examples include:
 

• Cloudflare Proxy / Tunnel (100 MB limit on free plans)
• Mobile networks with unstable connections
• Slow internet links
• Reverse proxies with request size restrictions
   
  Today a large video upload can fail completely because the entire file must be transferred as a single request.
   

Benefits

 

• Works through Cloudflare and similar services
• Uploads can resume after interruption
• Better experience on mobile networks
• Reduced failed uploads
• Better support for large video files
• More resilient remote uploads from family members
   

Proposed behaviour

 

• Client uploads files in configurable chunks
• Progress tracked per chunk
• Failed chunks automatically retried
• Uploads resume after network interruption
• Existing upload workflow remains unchanged for users
   

Additional context

 
This would solve a common issue for self-hosters exposing Immich through Cloudflare while also providing general reliability improvements for all users, even when no proxy size limits are involved.
