I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.

Group albums by year on mobile, consistent with the Web UI

Feature detail

It would be very useful if the Albums view in the Immich mobile app (iOS/Android) could group albums by year, similar to the existing Web UI.

On the Web UI, albums can be displayed in sections such as:

2026
Album A
Album B

2025
Album C
Album D

This makes navigating a large album library significantly easier. In the mobile app, albums can currently be sorted, for example by newest or oldest photo, but they are still displayed as one continuous list/grid without the year grouping available on Web.

Suggested implementation

Add a “Group by” option to the mobile Albums view, ideally matching the Web UI:

• Year
• None

If possible, the selected grouping should also persist between app restarts.

Why this would be useful

For users with many albums spanning multiple years, chronological sorting alone is not sufficient. Visible year sections make it much faster to navigate to older albums without having to scan a long continuous list.

Having the same grouping behaviour on Web and Mobile would also make the user experience more consistent across Immich clients.

This request concerns grouping albums in the Albums overview, not grouping photos by date inside an individual album.
