I'm receiving this notification to set up a ruleset and protect the main branch:

Right now I've disabled the feature as I don't see anything in particular that requires rules setup for, but if you have any suggestions please do let me know!

I can try to help with this branch protection rules of this repo since it's imp
as a start, I'd suggest enabling the following things:

1. Require pull request reviews before merging - just to check code
2. Require status checks to pass before merging - just to avoid unnecessary conflicts
3. Restrict force pushes - just to prevent overwrites

I've added a new ruleset with the following two enabled as you suggested:

With the "Require status checks to pass before merging" option, I'm a bit lost because it requires a status check but when I click on 'add checks' there is no option provided.

Could you please help me with this?

Hello Ava!
So the 'Require status checks' thing won’t show anything unless you’ve got a CI/CD workflow set up (like GitHub Actions). If you don’t have one yet, you can add a .github/workflows/ci.yml file with a simple script (something like npm test if it’s a Node.js project). Once you push a PR with that, it should pop up in the 'Add status checks' list. :)
