Better support for Arch Linux

1. Only install the "needed" packages (e.g. the ones that are not currently installed) on Arch Linux
2. brctl show differs in output on Arch Linux when the bridge does not exist

I guess 819bec3 is a duplicate of #1003. But my other change is separate from it.

It was for master, so not likely to merge that since we are very close to updating master right now

Should i rebase my dev branch until this is merged? Or will that cause problems?
