Extreme InfiniTV v1.6.4 brings catch-up TV: replay programmes you missed straight from your provider's archive, pause and rewind live TV, and scrub replays on a real seek bar. Rounded out by an external player picker, per-title video scaling, accent colors, category sorting, a Shaka Player backend, direct stream URLs as playlists, and a new beta update channel.

TL;DR

• Replay what you missed. On channels with archive support (Xtream or M3U catch-up), the Live TV guide and the EPG page now list up to 7 days of past programmes. Hit Watch replay on any of them, restart the current programme from the beginning with Watch from start, and jump back with Back to live when you're caught up.
• Pause and rewind live TV. A rewind press from live jumps you behind the broadcast, and a long pause on an archive-capable channel resumes exactly where you paused - no local recording involved. A small chip on the player always tells you how far behind live you are.
• Replays scrub like normal videos. The seek bar spans the whole programme, dragging jumps straight to that moment, and a still-airing programme shows the not-yet-aired part as a ghost region with a live-edge marker. A finished replay rolls into the next programme automatically until you're back at live.
• Make it yours. Seven accent colors in Settings > Display, per-channel / per-title video scaling (fit, fill, zoom, 16:9, 4:3), and sortable category lists.
• Get betas early. Settings > About > Update channel lets you opt into beta builds and update to them right from the app.

Heads up

This release upgrades the cache database, so playlists re-parse once on first launch after the update - they may take a moment longer to load that one time. Everything else (favorites, progress, settings) is untouched.

• Catch-up TV. Channels whose provider keeps an archive (Xtream tv_archive, M3U catchup attributes) get replay entries in the Live TV side panel, "Watch replay" / "Watch from start" in the programme dialog, and up to 7 days of past programmes on the EPG page with day-by-day navigation. All the common catch-up dialects work: default, append, shift, flussonic, Xtream timeshift, and template playlists in the TiviMate / diyp style - including the ${(b)yyyyMMddHHmmss} format tokens that previously ended up in the URL as literal text. Requested by @chuwza in [Feature] Support “Catch-up” #108 and [Feature] Supports “Time-shift” #109.
• Time-shift playback. Rewind live TV with the remote (a single rewind press from live starts a replay session), pause live channels and resume where you left off via the provider archive, and seek replays on the player's own bar with a full-programme timeline. When a replay ends, playback advances to the next programme's replay until the chain reaches live.
• Video scaling. Switch between fit, fill, zoom, 16:9, and 4:3 - remembered per channel on Live TV and per title on movies/series, with a global default and an "apply to all" reset. Requested by @chuwza in [Feature] Supports changing the display mode (video scaling) #107.
• Category sorting. Category lists in the pickers are now sortable, with localized sort labels. Requested by @chuwza in [Feature] Supports multiple ways to sort Groups (category) #110.
• Accent colors. Seven curated accent presets in Settings > Display recolor focus rings, progress fills, and highlights while keeping the calm slate base.
• Preferred external player. Pick MPV or VLC as your default external player in Settings, or keep "ask each time" and choose per stream in a picker with the official player icons.
• Beta update channel. Settings > About > "Update channel" switches the built-in updater to beta builds, which are now published automatically from every release branch. Platforms without the auto-updater (web, macOS, store installs) get an update-available toast and a Settings hint pointing at the right download instead.
• Shaka Player backend. A third embedded player engine (alongside Video.js and Artplayer), selectable in Settings > Playback.
• Direct stream URLs. Pasting a bare HLS stream URL (.m3u8) as a playlist now adds it as a single playable channel instead of a list of empty, unplayable entries.
• Log sharing on Android. The daily rotating, credential-redacted log file now also exists on Android, and Settings > Storage gained a Share logs button so attaching it to a bug report takes one tap. Old logs are pruned automatically.
• Restore last backup. The app snapshots your data on every export and before "Reset everything"; the Danger Zone can restore that snapshot in one click.

Improved

• Clearer playback failures. The failure panel was reworked with failure-specific messages and a single primary action tuned to the problem (enable HEVC, open an external player, retry).
• Radio mode. The oscilloscope now follows the actually playing audio (it could previously watch the wrong element and stay flat), survives player switches, and has a clearly visible idle line; artwork gets a proper music icon fallback and a centered accent glow.
• Hub strips scroll by mouse drag. Favorites, continue watching, watchlist, and recently added can be dragged with the mouse; touch and D-pad behavior is unchanged.
• Series detail polish. Season tabs and episode rows animate in with the same restrained staggered motion used elsewhere (disabled with reduced motion / performance mode).

Fixed

• Silent black screen on unsupported audio. Streams with audio formats the embedded player can't decode (AC-3 / E-AC-3 and friends) now say so clearly and offer the external-player escape hatch instead of playing picture-less or not at all.
• Fast channel switching could wedge the player. Intermittent "SourceBuffer limit" failures when zapping quickly or during auto-retry are gone.
• Stream tests could starve your provider connection. The "Test stream" diagnostic and internal probes used to hold one of the provider's few connection slots per probe, which could spiral into permanent 503s; all probes now disconnect as soon as they have what they need.
• Password-protected stream URLs (user:pass@host) start faster (a doomed first connection attempt is skipped) and are no longer misreported as a network/CORS problem by the diagnostic.
• EPG times no longer flap. XMLTV feeds without timezone information get a stable inferred offset per playlist, fixing programme times that jumped by 30-60 minutes between refreshes.
• Non-square channel logos are no longer clipped in the tuning overlay.

Under the hood

• Catalog cache schema v3. Cached entries now carry the archive / catch-up attributes; existing caches re-parse automatically on first launch.
• Beta release pipeline. Every push to a release branch publishes a signed -beta.N prerelease (Windows, Linux AppImage, Android APK), and the updater can install straight from it.
• All 16 languages up to date. Every new string in this release (catch-up, time-shift, video scale, accents, external players, update channel) ships fully translated.
• Test suite at 445 tests, with new suites covering catch-up URL building, time-shift seek math, audio-codec classification, and video scaling.

What about the .sig files, latest.json and the macOS .app.tar.gz?

You can ignore them.

• *.sig and latest.json are used by the built-in auto-updater to verify each download is genuinely signed. The app downloads them on its own when checking for updates.
• Extreme InfiniTV_universal.app.tar.gz is the macOS update bundle consumed by the same updater. For a fresh install on macOS, use the .dmg instead.
• The .aab files are uploaded to Google Play and are not meant for sideloading - _tv.aab is the Android TV build (open-testing track), the other is phone / tablet. Use the .apk to install manually.

macOS: "Extreme InfiniTV.app" cannot be opened / "Apple could not verify..."

The macOS build is not yet notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper blocks it on first launch. After dragging the app from the .dmg into /Applications, remove the quarantine flag from a Terminal:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Extreme InfiniTV.app"

Then open the app normally. You only need to do this once per install.
