Description
System information:
OS: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Kernel: 5.15.0-171-generic
CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon CPU Max 9480
CPU total: 224 logical CPUs
RAM: 1.0 TiB
GPU 0: NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation Edition, about 96 GB VRAM
GPU 1: NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q Workstation Edition, about 96 GB VRAM
NVIDIA driver: 590.48.01
CUDA reported by nvidia-smi: 13.1
Display session: X11, DISPLAY=:1
Monitor: 1920x1080 at 119.98 Hz
Isaac Sim versions tested:
isaacsim 4.5.0, 5.0.0. 5.1.0
Behavior:
Viewport FPS is abnormally low on this machine, and the same symptom is present in Isaac Sim 4.5.0, 5.0.0, and 5.1.0. Our lab purchased this high-performance workstation based on NVIDIA’s hardware recommendations because we need to simulate complex scenes involving deformable bodies, particle systems, and robotics. However, even a very simple scene with a single cube dropping onto the ground runs at only about 24 FPS. On our actual workload, performance sometimes drops to around 0.15 FPS, with frame times exceeding 1000 ms. I also searched for similar reports online and noticed that many of the low-FPS cases appear to involve Intel Xeon CPUs. Could the Xeon platform be a contributing factor? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
