GitHub Pages Markdown rendering doesn't respect list start numbers

Just sent off to GitHub support:

A Markdown file like this:

0. Item zero
1. Item one

should display on GitHub pages starting at zero, but instead the list starts at one. This seems to be a violation of the CommonMark spec.

I ran into this in the Probot website and @bkeepers/@JasonEtco sent me here. See probot/probot#425.

Just got this back from GitHub support:

Hi AJ,

GitHub Pages defaults to the kramdown markdown renderer, which is different from the extended CommonMark renderer we use on GitHub.com.

If you'd like to use the same spec we use on GitHub.com, you can add this to your site's config file:

markdown: GFM
