Organize work across organizations #1572

Original message sent to GitHub support:

At work, we have two different GitHub organizations. One that sort of represents the company (https://github.com/coblox/) and one for an open-source project that we are working on: https://github.com/comit-network

We like the separation because we can have all the repositories associated with our project in that one organization and all the rest (incl. private repositories) goes under our company org.

Now we are running into the problem that GitHub doesn't provide a way of having a board across multiple organisations and hence, we need to use an external tool. We have been using waffle.io but that closed down so we are now using ZenHub.

It is not really a satisfying solution though for multiple reasons (integration, performance, software quality, ...).

Having more than one GitHub organization seems to be a very common pattern on GitHub. Many projects have their own organization even though they might be managed by the same team.

It would be really good if GitHub could provide a GitHub projects that works across multiple organizations. We would want a board that allows us to keep track of work across all our repositories, no matter which organization they belong to.
