iviLink is a connectivity platform that helps Car Infotainment System and Mobile Devices unite. By Car Infotainment System we imply Head Unit, Rear Seat Entertainment, PNA etc. Mobile Device is a phone or a tablet based on Android or iOS. Our technology provides seamless two-way integration between these units. So when inside the car, no longer you have to choose which one would be more convenient for particular road situation. SDK 1.0.1 is now published. Release contains Core Stack implementation for Ubuntu x86 (ver. 10.10 or higher). This part of the SDK will run on Head Unit side of the in-car communication ecosystem. Users can now start developing their own applications designed for iviLink. For this you need to write app itself for Ubuntu-based Head Unit. Next a connection layer between this app and iviLink has to be prepared. This layer is called Profile in our terminology. To connect a profile you need to include App Lib to your application and use its API. iviLink core-stack will do everything else for you. It will transfer your data to another side where “receiving” application can use it.
You can start testing your applications through iviLink now! For this you need to have 2 instances of Ubuntu OS running either on separate PCs connected through a network. Or you can use Virtual Machine to run both Ubuntu on one PC. We also released several demo applications and accompanying Profiles together with SDK. They will become in handy as an example when you write your own apps. You can find them in samples folder

For the upcoming releases iviLink team focuses on Android SDK. Release 1.1 in early autumn will contain basic Android functionality. Release 2.0 in October will include full Android support. We’re also rolling out iOS integration activities. According to the current planning Release 2.5 will have Apple-ready SDK version. This release will appear by the end of the year.
