Installation

SnoutDB currently distributes source releases. Building requires Odin and its native toolchain.

macOS

brew install odin
git clone https://github.com/jacovinus/snoutdb.git
cd snoutdb
odin build ./cmd/snout -out:snout -o:speed
./snout version

Linux

Install Odin and LLVM using the instructions for your distribution, then:

git clone https://github.com/jacovinus/snoutdb.git
cd snoutdb
odin build ./cmd/snout -out:snout -o:speed
./snout version

Build the C Library

./scripts/build-cabi.sh

This produces libsnout.dylib on macOS or libsnout.so on Linux.

Verify the Checkout

odin version
./scripts/validate-release.sh

Source Release Integrity

Each GitHub Release includes:

• snoutdb-vX.Y.Z.tar.gz
• snoutdb-vX.Y.Z.zip
• SHA256SUMS-vX.Y.Z.txt
• generated release notes

Verify a downloaded archive on macOS:

shasum -a 256 snoutdb-vX.Y.Z.tar.gz

Compare the result with the published checksum file.
