Activity density heatmaps
View → Activity heatmap shows where activities of a chosen type concentrate
along the road network — home, work, school, and whatever else the scenario
defines.
Density is measured along the roads, not in straight lines. Two houses on
opposite banks of a river are far apart even when they look adjacent, and a
motorway that runs past housing with no nearby exit stays dark, because nobody
can reach it from there.
- Maps are cached per scenario, and precomputed in the background on smaller
networks so the first click is instant - Types can share one colour scale so they can be compared, or each can use its
own — View → Compare types on one scale - Colours are anchored at the 99th percentile, so a handful of extreme road
segments cannot wash out the rest of the map - The legend now appears in exported PNG and PDF images, not only on screen
- Computation runs off the UI thread and stops cleanly when the scenario
changes or the window closes
Measured on a 275K-node, 635K-link metro network with 1.3M activities: 1–13
seconds per map depending on the activity type. A 92K-link scenario computes
all seven types in under half a second.
Activity markers now use the real locations
MATSim actstart/actend events carry each activity's own coordinates, but
these were being discarded and positions derived from the endpoint link's
to-node instead — a median 125 m off, up to 1058 m.
This also fixes two display bugs in the agent plan overlay:
- Every person's first activity of the day was invisible, because it has no
preceding leg to hang a marker on - Two distinct activities of the same type could merge into one marker when
their positions snapped to the same node
Other
- Background map tile services now carry their required attribution
- Build scripts recover automatically from a stale CMake cache
- Per-activity-type counts are logged after event parsing
Note: the events cache format has changed. Existing
.vidxfiles are
rebuilt automatically on first load.
