Supported Processes

We tested our tool with scans of following color processes. Adding new processes is relatively easy, however we need to get a good quality scans.

Processes with regular removable viewing screen

These processes are easiest to work with digitally. First because there are collections of negatives that can not be viewed in color otherwise. Because manual screen alignment was necessary, these processes have relatively large color patches (100um and bigger) which makes requirements for resolution of the scan pretty low. The fact that taking screens had match precisely the viewing screen forced manufacturers for high precision while producing these. We also believe that dyes used to produce the screens were consistent between individual batches.

Paget colour plates

We tested negatives, positives scanned in RGB and positives scanned in infrared.

Finlay colour plates

We tested negatives and positives scanned in RGB and positives scanned in infrared.

Processes with regular integrated viewing screen

Dufaycolor

We tested reversal film digitized using Nikon Coolscan 9000ED at 4000DPI both in RGB and infrared.

Processes with stochastic integrated viewing screen

Autochrome

We tested positives scanned using Eversmart Select at 5480DPI.
