Cross-linking to ADR-006 (docs/adr/ADR-006-routed-guidance.md) which captured "no north-up disorientation cue" as a known consequence of the no-rotation choice. Closing #167 as a duplicate of this issue.

To scope this, what does "real compass" mean to you?

1. Device compass (magnetometer). Reads DeviceOrientationEvent to show which way the device is physically pointing. Useful at zero speed (where GPS heading is NaN) and tells you which way to turn at a fork. iOS requires DeviceMotionEvent.requestPermission(), so adds a permission prompt and possibly a fallback path.
2. Static compass-rose widget. Decorative "N" arrow in a corner. Always pointing up (since the map never rotates) — minimal value beyond aesthetics.
3. Route-direction arrow. A widget that points along the next maneuver's bearing — like a turn-by-turn indicator detached from the dot.

Option 1 is the substantive one and probably what you want. Confirming before implementation since the iOS permission UX has implications (extra prompt on first navigation start, gracefully degrades if denied).
