First public beta of taOS — a self-hosted AI agent operating system for low-power hardware.

This is the inaugural source-available cut under the taOS Sustainable Use License v0.1 (© JAN LABS LTD): free to use, modify, and self-host for personal use and your own organisation's internal purposes; a separate commercial license is required to sell it, host it as a paid service, or build it into a monetised product.

Highlights

  • Agent platform — deploy, configure, and chat with agents across multiple frameworks via lightweight adapters; per-agent scoped LiteLLM keys.
  • Memory — taOSmd memory engine integration (semantic + keyword search, project shelves, recipes/config-profiles with hardware-aware recommend).
  • App platform — installable app catalog, sandboxed app runtime, port-hygiene allocator.
  • Cluster — combine devices into one compute mesh with model placement and worker registration.
  • Desktop — React SPA desktop with a streamed in-OS browser, window lifecycle, and PWA surfaces.
  • Agent identity — agent registry with canonical IDs and Ed25519-signed identity tokens (SP-A).

Install

Installs track master; see the README for the one-line installer.

Note: This is a prerelease. APIs and interfaces may still change. Please file issues for anything that doesn't "just work".
