Document Alongside mode
SteamShell runs in either of two modes now, and the wiki described only one.
Adds a page for the pair, and threads it through Install, Home, Settings, the
tray page and the sidebar.
The Install page's product table had two answers where there are now three:
Alongside is the one to start with on a machine that is also a PC, rather than
XFE, which is for Xbox FSE rather than for caution.
Add screenshots to the Quick Menu, and add Settings Editor and Desktop & Tray pages
Weaves the 2.0.2 screenshots into the existing Quick Menu page rather than
replacing it, and adds two pages nothing covered: a visual tour of the desktop
Settings editor, and the tray menu.
The Quick Menu's Pages section named four pages -- Main, Tasks, Settings and
Game Detection -- and the screenshots show seven: Audio, Display & HDR, RTSS &
Performance, Current App and System are all top-level now, and Game Detection is
a row under System rather than a page. Corrected against what the build actually
draws.
Update the wiki for 2.0.0
The wiki was last touched in January 2026, at v1.2. It predated the XFE
companion, the Setup Assistant, the elevated helper, the Quick Menu, the
controller learner and RTSS integration, and its install page still named
SteamShell-Maximize-ChatGPT-v15-SplashVideo.ahk.
Rewritten: Home, Install, Settings, Controller Mappings, Scoring, Debugging.
New: Quick Menu, Controller Learner, Input recovery, XFE Companion, RTSS.
Extended: Gotchas.
Navigation moved to a real _Sidebar, replacing the hand-maintained link line
that was pasted into all ten pages and had already fallen out of sync with
itself.
Settings deliberately describes what each section is FOR rather than listing
every key. The sample INI is generated from the schema and is already the
authoritative list; a second copy in prose is a copy that goes stale, which is
the failure this project has spent a release fixing elsewhere.
Corrected while checking: the default mapping table said Start was unbound on
both short and long press. It has been Start Menu / File Explorer since the
schema 4 migration.
