Setup & Troubleshooting Guide

Node.js Requirement

  • Install Node.js version 22
  • Do NOT install version 24 due to SQLite compatibility issues

Project Setup

After cloning the repository into your desired folder, navigate to the application directory:

cd open-fin-al

Note: The exact path may vary depending on where you downloaded the repository.

Common Windows PowerShell Error

Error:

npm is not recognized as a cmdlet

Solution:

Run the following command in the VSCode terminal:

Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

Fixing 'sharp' Module Installation Errors

If you encounter issues installing the sharp module, run the following commands:

rm -r -fo node_modules
rm package-lock.json
npm cache clean --force
npm install
npm start

Sidecar Troubleshooting

Folder Naming (Windows)

  • Name the folder: jre-win
  • Do NOT name it java-win

Neo4j Driver Installation

If not already installed, run:

npm install neo4j-driver

OS File Downloads

  • Ensure you download the correct files for your operating system
  • The default download on some websites may be for Linux

Mac Setup

  • Rename folders: jre-mac neo4j-mac
  • Follow the same setup steps as Windows

Linux Setup

  • Rename folders: jre-linux neo4j-linux
  • Follow the same setup steps as Windows
