AmigaQuickInstall

You can see this thing as a poor's man ansible to quickly configure an out of the box Amiga OS. It is a fast and easy way to create a standard, simple yet powerfull way of reproducing a configuration.

What is does

  • Copy "standard" Workbench directories to SYS:
  • Copy content of APPS directory to the partition of your choice (eg. "WORK:")
  • Let you choose some commodities to activate
  • Apply Startup-sequence patch (Amiga Edit script)
  • Add content to user startup.

Note: Amiga Edit script reference can be found on pagetable site

How to use it

You need an already installed base workbench that boots on your target disk.

On a disk (floppy, UAE, PCMCIA, etc.):

  • Prepare everthing you want in the standard folders (S, C, Libs, etc.)
  • if needed, prepare startup-sequence and user startup patch file (see example in this repo)
  • if needed, create an "APPS" directory for things to install to another partition
  • copy the installer script with its icon in the root of the disk
  • mount this disk on Amiga and double click on QuickInstall

Support folder names on root is:

  • C
  • Classes
  • Devs
  • Fonts
  • Guides
  • L
  • Libs
  • Prefs
  • S
  • Storage
  • System
  • Tools
  • Utilities

Requirement

The Install script require installer V43.3 or newer. It can be found on Aminet
