• http: Launch agents in the cloned repo, not the workspace root (5f639e2)

Agents previously spawned with cwd=workspace root, so git status and file edits ran outside the cloned repo and immediately diverged from operator expectations. CreateSessionRequest now accepts an optional working_directory (validated against the workspace via the same MountPath guard that protects every mount path) and the use case auto-derives it from the single github_repository resource when the caller omits it; multi-repo and repo-less sessions stay at the workspace root by design. The chosen path is persisted on the Session entity, emitted on session.created, rehydrated from the event log, and used by send_user_message when invoking the launcher. The MCP create_session tool mirrors the new field so HTTP and MCP stay contract-equivalent.

Aligning the cwd to a cloned repo means the workspace provisioner can no longer clobber .claude/settings.local.json — projects ship their own. The hook bootstrap now deep-merges into any existing file: top-level keys outside hooks are preserved, per-event matcher groups are unioned, and Mad's forward.sh group is appended only when no group already routes through it (idempotent on re-runs). Malformed JSON in an existing settings file surfaces as a MalformedSettingsLocalJson ValueError rather than a silent overwrite, so ADR-0008's hook channel keeps working on every supported topology.

Rationale and the rejected alternatives (per-resource flag, default workspace root, launcher-side derivation) live in ADR-0011; the AgentLauncher contract note in CLAUDE.md and the ADR index are updated to point there. Integration tests cover the four resolution branches (explicit, single-repo auto-derive, multi-repo fallback, repo-less fallback) end-to-end through the HTTP route, and four merge tests cover the hook bootstrap against pre-existing, conflicting, malformed, and empty settings.local.json files.
