Frequent & rapid changes to setpoint of underlying climate entity

Hi, I'm using Versatile Thermostat in "over climate" mode, with a Daikin AC unit. Recently VT started changing the target temperature of the underlying AC entity in an odd way:

• VT sets a new target temperature to the AC, e.g. 26.5° -> 25.5°
• literally 0.25 seconds later, it sets the target temperature back, i.e. 25.5° -> 26.5°
• this repeats every minute, even though I have set VT to have a cycle length of 5 minutes

A consequence is that a) the desired temperature is never reached, and b) Daikin has a daily rate limit on API calls, this behavior drains it within 2 hours.

Any idea what causes this, and how to fix it?

Hello, I think this is related to the Daikin behavior which changes the target on its own.
You should deactivate the "follow underlying change" which is true on your attributes. This is an entity in your VTherm device.
Try with off.

Unfortunately that didn't work.

Besides, if it was caused by Daikin AC changing target temp on its own (or through external action like IR remote command), the VT's target temperature would also change - since I had "follow underlying temperature" set to on. And we see that VT's target temp remained unchanged.

I have no idea of what happens in your environment. Can you try sending log ? See in README how to activate logs.
