Connect to the UART console and show the complete log output during boot. |

Here is output to PuTTy through UART up to where it stalls: U-Boot SPL 2025.10johang-dirty (Jan 01 2026 - 02:34:30 +0000) U-Boot 2025.10johang-dirty (Jan 01 2026 - 02:34:30 +0000) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner A20 (SUN7I) starting USB... watch for some unwanted spaces at the end of line, they were line feeds, e.g. the last line should end in "link mode" instead of "l ink mode" |
|
At that stage, the system hasn't actually halted: if I plug the ethernet cable in, it will say the link is up, same when I switch the monitor input away and back. I just don't get the login prompt it seems. ( I did make one change to eth.network: I removed the ClientIdentifier line, it may have nothing to do with this new observation, but before I did that, the ethernet LED's would remain off, and now theyflash, but the board isn't getting an IP address from the router) [ 143.372792] sun7i-dwmac 1c50000.ethernet end0: Link is Up - 1Gbps/Full - flow control rx/tx |
|
By comparison, this is what I get with the bookworm version, it is really just that last step that triggers the login prompt that is not executing in the Trixie image: [ 22.199318] sun7i-dwmac 1c50000.ethernet end0: configuring for phy/rgmii-id link mode Debian GNU/Linux 12 debian ttyS0 debian login: |

UPDATE FOR THE Jan 12 IMAGE - only including the last bit of the output, let me know if you need the entire log. The ethernet now comes up but still doesn't get an IP address from the router, and I still don't get the login prompt; [ 32.092467] sun7i-dwmac 1c50000.ethernet end0: No Safety Features support found |

Looks like it works. Just press enter in the console. |
|
I am confused: my monitor is still not getting any output through HDMI, and the board is not getting an IP address from the router. You are right that on the console through UART, after hitting enter, I get the login promt and I can login. So why is there no output to the monitor through HDMI and why is the network interface not getting an IP address through DHCP? This works automatically in the Bookworm image. |
|
let me play with it. although my router doesn't show the board as connected, I do have an internet connection. I'll post another update if I get stuck. |

I have made some progress but I am hitting a wall with rsync, there are dependencies missing that are not installable: root@teslausb:~# rsync --version This module is supposed to be part of libssl1.1_1.1.1w-0+deb11u2 or libssl-dev, but when I attempt to install the latter package, it says it is already installed but has missing dependencies. When I try --fix-broken, this is what I get: libssl-dev is already the newest version (3.5.4-1~deb13u1). Can you think of a way to solve this? Thank you for all your work to keep those beautiful boards alive :) |

something is broken in the Trixie image: rsync is installed, but when I enter rsync --version, it tells me that libcrypto.so.1.1 is missing. This library is obsolete and should not be associated with the version of rsync that comes with Trixie. What could explain that rsync is looking for this obsolete module instead of using libcrypto.so.3 that is actually present in the required folder? I tried reinstalling rsync, but no luck, |
|
PROBLEM SOLVED: I compiled the source of rsync and it works fine now |
Uh oh!

I have tried the Trixie versions for PCduino 3 and PcDuino3 Nano, did all on a Linux laptop after failing on a Windows laptop using Rasperry imager, but when I power up the board with the SD card in it, the screen remains black. When I power it on without an sd card, the original OS does boot up. I tried the bookworm version that used to work for the past 5 years but the result is the same. Any idea on how to troubleshoot this would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Gaetano.
