Bug description

Plaintext export creates 2 plaintexts for recipient and sender instead of merging them into one text document.
Example - Me and my friends chat exported as plaintext makes one text document of only his messages sent and then another of only my messages sent to him. They are not together in one text document.

That's very strange because export is done in one go wihout any distinction between sender and receiver, it just loops through the message table. What are the names of those files?

I tried to export my messages from signal as plain text and use the SMS Backup and Restore app to restore them. I looked at the XML format that Signal exported, it seemed fine. Shows conversation going as back and forth. However, when I checked it in the SMS Backup and Restore app, things got a bit wonky. The app split up all the conversations based on the contact, which is alright, but the problem is it didn't show any of the messages I sent to them. Only the messages they sent me were visible in their contact conversation. And to make it even more confusing, all the messages I sent to different people got jumbled together into one group under my name. It didn't keep them separate based on the recipients like it usually does. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hello, I have the exact same issue. XML file I got from Signal has all my messages together with everyone else's in one file (might have to just extract the things I want manually, with a help of a python script). The last time I exported my messages from Signal through SMS Backup and Restore was around January 2023, and back then everything worked just fine (except for groupchats). Maybe the issue is with SMS Backup and Restore itself?
