I don't think some of these core dependencies have been looked at for a while and a few of them are not maintained anymore, such as the lru-cache and the platform-dirs.
I also took the chance to see if we can reduce the total number of dependencies we're using and removed the webbrowser package. But I also think we might be able to remove some others.
