Future Plans
'Cause it's gonna be the future soon
And I won't always be this way
When the things that make me weak and strange get engineered away
It's gonna be the future soon
I've never seen it quite so clear
And when my heart is breaking I can close my eyes and it's already here
-- The Future Soon by Jonathan Coulton
Believe it or not, Dive won't just be applied to St. Louis County and St. Louis City where the majority of the Metro Transit System lies. Eventually, this project would like to include both St. Clair County in Illinois (where Metro also operates) and Madison County Transit which serves Downtown St. Louis during rush hour.
It is the hope that this project will influence transit systems in our area (and eventually other cities) to better serve commuters, encourage more mass transit where service is currently limited, increase local commerce, and to change the perception that many people have about mass transit.
This task will not happen overnight. And in some places, people are adamantly resistant to such changes both within the transit authority and outside the current reach of the transit boundaries.
