Presenter Overlay not showing

What happened?

Apologies if this is false alarm or anything I overlooked: but what exactly needs to be done to get the Presenter Overlay captured? It doesn't matter what I do: the generated video file doesn't show anything and looks identical to the capture when the "Presenter Option" is unchecked.

I have already set camera permissions to BetterCapture on macOS and I can see my internal MacBook camera showing a green light during capture process. But the final video doesnt show my camera capture on top of the captured video.

Isnt this what is suppose to be shown in the final video? I thought switching Presenter Overlay on captures my face from the camera and puts it in a corner (presumably) over the captured content? At least this is what I expected when ticking that checkbox. Currently my captured video (browser window) looks identical with both Presenter Overlay on or off even with a rolling webcam on my MacBook ...

Anything else I can try do get this working? Is this a technical issue? Anything still permission related?

Presenter Overlay is a bit tricky to activate. Here are the steps that should work:

1. Enable the setting in BetterCapture
2. Check the permissions
3. Start the recording
4. Click on the purple icon in the menu bar to activate the presenter overlay

Unfortunately, there is no easier way when using the native presenter overlay. Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you! I finally figured this out and it took me a few hours - I would strongly suggest to document this somewhere: I had all 4 requirements that you listed in place (permissions, setting activated for Presenter Overlay, ...): but - the "Moderatormask" in the BetterCapture Menu (when you click the purple button) even after all of that, is still set to "off".

After all of the 4 points, you still need to manually set "Moderatormask" from "off" to either "small" or "big" (depending how big you want your face to be captured).

I was completely unaware of that setting and again I was only able to find that setting with the hint that you just posted. That would have been good to know before ... but maybe it was just me.

Or maybe set "Moderatormask" to "small" as default instad to "off" when the setting for "Presenter Overlay" has been enabled?

Made a quick test and now it works as expected - many thanks for your help! (Issue can be closed)

Glad I could help. I need to check if there is any way to change the default. I was also thinking of a custom implementation of the overlay, as the macOS presenter overlay is very limited in terms resizing etc.
