Alternative solutions to Tauri as the app frontend.

This discussion thread is dedicated to discussing how to re-write the frontend (currently written in Tauri + React) in a more performant and stable framework.

Proposed alternatives

• Slint (top-candidate)
• Qt

Other alternatives are welcome if they provide strong cross-platform desktop support, GPU integration, and sufficient flexibility for a highly custom editor UI.

Why?

• WebKit/WebKitGTK issues: Already seeing a growing number of issues related out of WebKit/WebKitGTK.
• GPU-heavy workloads: Performance gains for GPU-heavy workload.
• Cross-platform consistency: We want a strong and predictable user-experience across different platforms/operating-systems.
• Better integration with the engine: The core of this project is written in rust so a native framework (like Slint) could allow direct communication between frontend and backend (engine).

Challenges

• No extensive ecosystem (so we'll have to develop our own primitives and everything from scratch)
