D0018 — The roadmap page: three directions to react to (R1–R3)

This thread decides D0018: which of three working redesigns of the roadmap page — or the current page, or named pieces of named ones — becomes the front page.

The three directions are live now, on real roadmap data, built for a reader returning after two days: the queue leads with what needs you, the wire with what changed in the last seven days, the board with what is running right now. Open them on a phone — all three side by side here.

• R1 (D0018.1): which direction becomes the roadmap page — the queue, the wire, the board, the current page, or named pieces of named directions?

• R2 (D0018.2): if a new direction wins, does the current inventory page survive one click behind it as the catalog, or retire?

• R3 (D0018.3): on the public page, is a fixed and labeled recent window the accepted answer to "what changed", with the true "since you last looked" reserved for the local dashboard once #205 records real last-viewed times?

Recommendation: the queue as the front page, the wire one click behind it, the board's NOW panel absorbed as a slim strip, and the current page kept as the catalog. The full argument, the trade-offs, and the 390px verification record are in the decision artifact.

The recommendation he approved is the spike's own, stated plainly on the artifact page: make the queue the front page, keep the wire one click behind it, absorb the board's NOW panel as a slim strip on whichever page you land on, and keep the current page as the catalog behind both — losing nothing of its inventory, its filters, or its hierarchy review lane. It was written by the worker who built the three directions, formed from the rendered pages after all three were finished. It is also the only recommendation on record here: the concierge that carried the question to him offered none of its own, deliberately, so that the pages stayed the thing he reacted to.

What his answer settles:

• R1 (D0018.1) — which direction becomes the roadmap page: the composite above. The queue in front, the wire one click behind it, the board's NOW panel absorbed as a slim strip rather than surviving as a fourth page.
• R2 (D0018.2) — whether the current inventory page survives: it survives, as the catalog behind both. Its two composing filters and the hierarchy current-versus-proposed review lane keep working; it stops being the front door.
• R3 (D0018.3) — the recency signal on the public page: settled by implication rather than in his words. The wire he approved is built with a fixed seven-day window that says so on its face, and it names the real "since you last looked" signal as pending (#205), so approving it accepts that answer for the public page. It is recorded on the artifact as an implication rather than a quotation, so that if he meant otherwise it is visible and cheap to correct — one line of the rebuild's spec.

Follow-through:

• The rebuild is requirement #211, with his choice as the spec: the queue in front, the wire one click behind, the NOW strip absorbed, the catalog kept whole, and the spike harness taken out as part of the build rather than left for later.
• Requirement #202, which commissioned the spike, has delivered what it asked for and closes out on this decision.
• The three spike pages stay at their URLs until the rebuild ships.
