Introduction
Quantum is a comprehensive API for the generation of random locations. With Quantum, you can plug in your rules, and it'll generate you a location that conforms to your specifications.
In Quantum, a rule is a piece of configuration that tells Quantum whether or not a location might be valid. The most obvious one that comes to mind is the avoid-block rule - with it you can specify specific block types to avoid, such as WATER and LAVA.
Instead of relying on a plugin author to expose all the necessary configuration options to fine-tune your server, Quantum leaves it all up to the server admins. Using Quantum's built in rulesets, and optional expansion plugins to augment Quantum, you can be 100% confident that Quantum will do exactly what you want.
Additionally, Quantum makes it very easy for plugins to add their own rules. For example, a plugin could add WorldGuard region rules, so you could block spawning in any/all WorldGuard regions.
Rules are great, but rules alone won't get you anywhere. To apply rulesets, you need to use rulesets. Rulesets are pieces of configuration which hold important data for Quantum, including the search area, spawn targets, the target world, and of course, rules.
Using rulesets, you can further customize Quantum - the search area is configurable, and takes min/max values for both the X and Z coordinates.
As rulesets can only apply to one world, you can define as many rulesets as you need. You can even create multiple rulesets for a single world. This is only a benefit to the API, though, as the first-party implementations of Quantum only allow one ruleset per world.
So, all that is great, but even with all of Quantum's power, you can't do much with if you aren't a developer. Luckily, alongside Quantum, two plugins are developed. QuantumWild and QuantumSpawn are replications of the classic /wild and random spawn plugins, respectively.
