Keyman Desktop has a (very hidden and poorly documented) feature whereby you can create a localised welcome.htm for your package, named welcome-‹langtag›.htm. This needs to be tested to make sure it is still working, and if so, then needs to be documented. Given its lack of visibility so far, we should aim for BCP-47 compatibility.

Also possibly worth considering if this could be done better in some other way?

I encountered this recently with keymanapp/keyboards#88. On Keyman 11.0 for macOS welcome-spa.htm and welcome-es.htm do nothing, even when my computer's locale is set accordingly.

I don't remember it ever being used. As far as I know we don't have any welcome-{BCP47}.htm files in legacy or in release.

This should still work in Keyman Desktop in Windows but has never been supported on other platforms. The intent is to resolve this properly as part of our i18n review in Keyman 13.
