Maplecord

Chat, voice and loot rolling for game groups. There is a desktop app for Windows, and the same thing runs in a browser.

No ID verification. No face scans. No password database. You sign in through a service you already use, and Maplecord never asks for a password.

Using Maplecord

  • Customising your profile: names, colours, pictures, decorations, effects, nameplates, server tags, your emojis and sounds, and linked accounts.
  • Servers and channels: making a server, banners, emojis, stickers and the soundboard, the kinds of channel, roles, private channels and invites.
  • P2P: what it is, how it works, what it costs you in privacy, and how to make P2P channels.
  • What we keep, what we don't, and why.

Making things

  • Designing animations and pictures: the limits, and how to design decorations, profile effects and banners so they look right.
  • Building a bot: making a bot, connecting it, sending messages, slash commands and webhooks.
  • API reference: every request, call, event and field a bot can use.
  • Keeping your own history: P2P channels plus an archive bot you host, so your group's history lives on machines you control and the Maplecord server only makes the connections.

Getting the app

Download it from maplecord.app, or press "Open in your browser" there. On a phone it can be added to the home screen. On a phone or tablet, hold your finger on a person, a channel or a server to open the menu a right-click opens on a computer.

Beside the message box, + opens everything besides typing: sending a file or a voice message, a poll, emojis and stickers, and between friends who both allow P2P, sending a file straight from your computer.

Sounds. Overlay settings, Customize sounds picks, for each moment the app plays a sound (a win, a tie, a message arriving, and so on), the built-in sound or one of the soundboard sounds you can reach. In the desktop app you can also import a sound pack (a .zip of files named after the moments, like win.wav), download the built-in pack to start from, or delete a pack.

If there is a Support button at the top right, it shows what running Maplecord costs and how to help. Payments happen on the sites it links to, never in Maplecord.

If Maplecord is full when you open it, the app says so and shows roughly how many people are ahead of you. You are let in as soon as there is room. Keep the app open to keep your place.

The app is open source: github.com/kl3mta3/Maplecord.
