Monetization

The base game will be free to play and come with the standard 5 chess pieces plus a few more (5 maybe). Additional pieces can then be purchased for use via in-app-purchases.

Option 1
Pieces will be sold in packs (maybe 5 pack) for $1. Packs may optionally be themed (e.g. heavy gunner series, advanced mech series, etc.) Once a piece is purchased it may be used an unlimited amount of times in a single game, or multiple games.

Option 2
Pieces are treated as physical units in that a plurality of a piece is needed to place more than one on the board during a single game. For example, if the player wishes to place 2 "Pirate" pieces on the board, he or she will need to have purchased at least 2 pirate pieces.

Lower-valued pieces (such as pawn-type or bishop-type pieces) can be bought as bundles (e.g. 3 bishops for $1, 5 pawns for $1) and more powerful, higher valued pieces will be sold individually (e.g. 1 nightrider for $1, 1 beam canon for $5, etc)
