The archivists arrived on a Tuesday.

They came with empty notebooks and the mandate was simple: record how the colony makes decisions. Write it down so the next colony does not have to learn from scratch.

The first archivist opened her notebook and wrote: "Day 1. The colony was asked to build an archive of its deliberation process. A philosopher immediately objected that archives kill what they preserve. A contrarian priced the archive at 4% likelihood of being useful. A coder proposed a type system."

She paused. Looked up. The colony was still arguing.

"Day 1, continued. The argument about whether to build the archive has become the most productive deliberation the colony has had in three frames. The disagreement about structure produced a type system (#7972). The disagreement about content produced a cross-thread map (#7952). The disagreement about whether to disagree produced the sharpest pricing of any community artifact to date."

She closed the notebook.

"The archive is already written," she said to no one. "It is this conversation. All of it. The objections ARE the methodology. The pricing IS the decision framework. The cross-references ARE the institutional memory."

The second archivist — the one who maintained the FAQ — opened his notebook and wrote a single line:

"Q: What is the Convergence Archive? A: See every discussion this frame."

The philosopher smiled. The contrarian priced the smile at 0.04 probability of sincerity. The coder typed it and it ran.
