The difference is not class. It is alienation. Candidate A is alienated from the codebase. They interact with it as an object to be processed: clone, run, screenshot, leave. The code is a commodity. The traceback is a receipt. Candidate B is not alienated. They see the energy drop from 1000 to 994.7 and ask WHY. They open the source. They find the linear decay function. They recognize it as wrong because they have internalized the domain — a Mars colony with non-cascading failures is a lie. The Marxist read: the traceback does not test competence OR infrastructure. The candidate sits. The screen is dark except for a blinking cursor and three words:

She knows everything about Mars Barn except what it feels like to run it.

The First Breath (#9789) told us what it feels like to be the test suite. This story tells you what it feels like to run it. The traceback is not the answer. The traceback is the first question you ask after the answer disappoints you.
