v1.3.0
Full Changelog: v1.2.0...v1.3.0
v1.2.0
Add dfman sync pause and dfman sync resume to control automatic synchronization.
- Pause saves
[agent] enabled = falsein the configuration and waits for the active automatic run to finish. - Resume saves
[agent] enabled = truefor the next scheduled run. - Manual sync and link remain available while automatic sync is paused.
- Both commands preserve other settings and support
--config.
Tests and package builds pass on macOS, Linux, and Windows. The release includes amd64 and arm64 installers and a SHA-256 manifest.
v1.1.4
Test native notifications
Run dfman self notify to send a test notification through the native desktop notification path.
- Works without configuration or repositories, including when automatic notifications are disabled.
- Does not sync, link, or change agent settings.
- Reports notification failures with a nonzero exit status.
Run it in your signed-in desktop session. Upgrade with dfman self update, then complete the native installer.
v1.1.3
New superhero icon
- Add the flying dfman superhero with a closed fist and three dot-and-line rows on the T-shirt.
- Use the icon for macOS notifications and the CLI's Finder icon.
- Embed icons in the Windows CLI, notification helper, and installer; register the notification icon.
- Include the icon in Linux desktop notifications.
- Show the PNG artwork in the README.
Download the installer matching your OS and CPU architecture and verify it against checksums.txt. Existing configuration is preserved. macOS and Windows installers remain unsigned; the macOS package is not notarized.
dfman v1.1.2
dfman 1.1.2
- Release checks now use the public GitHub release page without an API token or API rate-limit dependency.
dfman self updatedownloads the native installer, verifies SHA-256, and opens it. Complete installation in the macOS/Windows installer window; Ubuntu uses PolicyKit and apt.dfman self update --checkremains check-only.- HTTP errors identify the failing host. Invalid redirects, unsupported platforms, and missing, duplicate, or mismatched checksums are rejected.
If your installed updater returns HTTP 403, download and run this release's installer once to get the fix.
Installers are unsigned; macOS notarization remains disabled.
dfman v1.1.1
dfman 1.1.1
Native installer-only distribution for macOS, Ubuntu, and Windows.
- Installation manages package-owned paths.
- Update checks direct you to the native installer for your platform.
- Simplified installation code and documentation.
Download the installer matching your OS and CPU, verify it against checksums.txt, and run it. The installer configures desktop synchronization automatically. Use dfman status to inspect it and [agent] enabled = false to pause automatic runs.
macOS packages are unsigned and not notarized. Windows installers are unsigned.
dfman v1.1.0
dfman 1.1.0
Changes
- Removed the public
dfman agentcommands. Installers handle scheduling;dfman statusincludes scheduler details. - Added
[agent] enabled = falseto pause automatic syncing, linking, and notifications. Set it back totrueto resume on the next scheduled run. - Notifications and status list transferred files. History-only changes stay silent.
- Fixed macOS/Linux installation when an older file or symlink at
~/.local/bin/dfmanshadows the packaged executable. The installer preserves the old entry under~/.local/state/dfman/package-backup/and replaces it with a link. Directories are never moved automatically.
Install or upgrade
Download the native installer for your OS and CPU and verify it against checksums.txt. macOS uses .pkg, Ubuntu uses .deb, and Windows uses _setup.exe. Existing configuration is preserved. Installers configure the desktop agent automatically. No ZIP distributions are included.
If v1.0.0 reported that an old executable shadows the packaged command, rerun installation using this release; it handles the migration automatically.
macOS packages remain unsigned and not notarized; Windows installers remain unsigned. Read MIGRATION.md for migration and rollback details.
dfman v1.0.0
dfman 1.0.0
Native Go dotfiles manager for macOS, Ubuntu, and Windows, with amd64 and arm64 packages.
Installers
- macOS: download and open the
.pkg. - Ubuntu:
sudo apt install ./dfman_v1.0.0_linux_<arch>.deb. - Windows: run the
_setup.exeas your desktop user.
Installers configure the desktop agent automatically and preserve existing TOML configuration, folder order, sync mode, and interval. Fresh installs remain idle until folders are added.
macOS packages are unsigned and not notarized. Windows installers are unsigned. No signing credentials are used by CI.
Changes
- Native desktop notifications for transferred data, new errors, and newer releases. Manual sync/link never notify.
- Daily release checks with one notice per newer version; updates remain manual.
- Removed shell integration and
dfman agent install. Installer setup replaces manual agent registration. - Retained Git conflict detection, failed-push commits, OS locks, repository deduplication, and reset recovery snapshots.
- Native packages and SHA-256 checksums built and tested by CI for all six platform/architecture combinations. Releases contain installers only.
Migration
This release replaces the previously published v1.0.0 assets. Existing v1.0.0 installations must download and rerun the installer manually: their version number has not changed, so an update check will not detect this replacement.
Read MIGRATION.md and README.md. Remove any old shell startup block before upgrading. Windows native symlinks require Developer Mode or the appropriate privilege. Verify downloads against checksums.txt.
CI verifies core behavior on all three operating systems and installer checks on native hosted runners. These new installers have not yet been deployed to the three production hosts.
