It is simple to make GraphHopper working on Android. Move to the android branch and do mvn assembly:single on the command line.

Use the jar file produced under the target folder (with dependencies!) and copy it into the libs folder of your android application, hit refresh in Eclipse (or use netbeans). As starting point you could use this example.

Limitations:

  • For now OSMReader does not work on Android due to some javax.xml dependencies. But you can simply create the graphhopper files on your desktop and copy them to the Android storage. In the logs you should see something like: MemoryGraphSafe - found graph /mnt/sdcard/maps/graph-monaco with nodes:3037, edges:3221, edges segments:2, edges segmentSize:16384, created-at:Tue Sep 04 14:54:35 MESZ 2012

  • To avoid disc bound graph implementations like MemoryGraphSafe you should use DiscGraph. But a a memory bound a* algoritm is not yet implemented. Let me know if you need this!
