--idea switching to IntelliJ, but does nothing else

I am trying to figure out how to use kscript.

On my Mac (MacOS X 10.13.4) I have IntelliJ working. While I am running kscript --idea performance.kts where the file contains simple example from this project the focus switches to IntelliJ, but nothing else happened. Also after that nothing changed in project.

What do I miss? Or this is a bug.

What should happen is, that IJ come to the top and is showing the "Import project from Gradle" dialog.

To exclude any issues with your script, could run a more basic test such as

kscript --idea "val a = 1"

If this is not working either please check 2 things

1. Is the idea launcher working correctly like can you open files idea some/file.txct and directory idea some/directory?

2. When launching the idea mode, kscript will/should create a new temporary project folder under ~/.kscript/kscript_tmp_project__<some_random_uuid>
   Could you check and post the directory structure. Typically this should contain a src dir and a build.gradle.

What is your version of Intelij?

I figured out that IntelliJ 2015.3.5 on Mac only opens new project it created with this command ONLY if the application does NOT run at the time.

However the example file from your project (https://github.com/holgerbrandl/kscript/blob/master/examples/kotlinc_example.kts) included in the project shows a syntax error: e: .../src/kotlinc_example.kts: (4, 13): Unresolved reference: args
Nevertheless when ran from command line it works as expected.

At least I think all these should be explained in the README. Or should IntelliJ recognize kscript syntax?

Since it's just a hobby, I can not test it against outdated intellij versions.

The red args are an intellij bug, please vote under https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/KT-15019
It's also listed under https://github.com/holgerbrandl/kscript#how-to-contribute

The file kotlinc_example.kts is not an actual kscript example but demonstrates how kotlin scripting would work without kscript.

I'll add some comments to kotlinc_example.kts to clarify its intent.

In case anyone else come here looking for answers about IntelliJ not opening a new window, the corresponding YouTrack bug is https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-103537.

In my case, I had to recreate the launcher in 'Tools' => 'Create command line launcher'
