in particular try to fetch TraceIds while inside a span. this might be a dumb idea, but need the id somehow...
able to get traceids within the reconciler, however, now the app cannot be ctrl-c'd for some reason...
currently does not work with tonic for some reason: open-telemetry/opentelemetry-rust#473
